In loving memory of our dear classmate

Services for Paul Barnhart, 69, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2015 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.
Mr. Barnhart was born April 23, 1946 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of the late Wanda Lee (Richison) and Dorsey Paul Barnhart. He passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in a local hospital.
Mr. Barnhart was an entrepreneur. He owned and operated Kwik-Chek Grocery in Lufkin. He also owned and operated a number of businesses. He was very generous, big-hearted, and was always good at whatever he did. He was an avid golfer and private pilot. He served his country in the United States Army as a Green Beret as a Specialist 4.
Survivors include his wife, Liza Barnhart of Lufkin; son, Brandon "Bear" Barnhart of Plano; his extended family, Lynn and Allen Repp of Lufkin, stepsons, Roy and Ken Smith, and step-grandsons, Zack, Nick and Kendra Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Paulette and Bob Partin of Houston; niece, Terri Lee Partin-Kashdan and husband Randy of Houston; nephew, Robert Paul Partin and wife Andrea of Houston; great-nephew, Kyle Robert Partin; great-niece, Reagan Vaughan Partin; cousin, Timothy Barnhart; and best friend, Kent Reynolds.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Barnhart was preceded in death by his grandmother, Elsie Vaughan Barnhart, who raised him.
Pallbearers will be Terry Hires, Ken Smith, Roy Smith, Nick Smith, Robert Partin, and Randy Kashdan.
Honorary pallbearer will be Kent Reynolds.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
