Many of you might not remember Ronnie but he and I were good friends, he lived on Lamonte, and we use to race cars down North Houston Road in the early to mid 60's, If my memory is correct he was building boats and was coming back from Austin and had a car accident. He was a Great guy
Jack & I used to double date alot with Ronnie and his girlfriend (later his fiance) Sande Burnham. I was dressed and getting ready to attend Sande's bridal shower when I got the call that Ronnie had been in a wreck on Hempstead highway on his way back from Austin & had been killed. That was one rough funneral to attend. We stopped by a few weeks later to visit with his parents and see his baby brother (that was born shortly before Ronnie's death). Sande's wedding portriat was hanging in their den next to a portriat of Ronnie & his baby brother was the spitting image of him. Mrs. Hayes was quite shocked when she found out that she was having a baby (at her age) - but it turned out to be quite a blessing. Jack believes he was working for Glastron boats in Austin. He had gone to Austin to pick up his pay check because they were suppose to attend Sande's prom that weekend. I think of him often - he was a great guy. Sandy (Beshear) Denton
