Thank you to those who organized us!  It was a very nice reunion.  So good to see our wonderful class.

Thanks so much to Joyce Barta Bayersdorfer, Sweetie Marbury, and Pat Bissonnet for a wonderful 60th reunion!  It was just perfect!  Bobby and I loved seeing everyone, catching up with your lives, hearing about your children, grandchildren, even great-grands, and furry family members!  We had a wonderful class and seeing you all brought back so many happy Waltrip memories.  Our son Clay (visiting from California) was kind enough to drive us down from Shreveport (boy, we don't miss that Houston traffic!).  He had a great time too--you all charmed him--we're so glad he got to meet you all and see what a great class we had.  xoxoxo

Because the class of '65 officers were careful with our class money over the years we still had a balance of over $1,000 this spring.  We must have contributed money during our senior year to pay for our prom and and other senior activities. Because our prom was held at Sylvan Beach, it only cost $50 to rent the pavilion. We spent more on a band and decorations. I do remember that some parents didn't like us driving that far. Fortunately, there were no problems, and Buddy Brock the band leader said that he had never seen Sylvan Beach look so pretty.
We have spent class money over the years on reunions, but we still had a balance in our account. At the reunion last spring we voted to give the remaining money as a scholarship to a deserving student. Ms.Barrios, a counselor, helped us. She suggested 11 seniors that she felt were deserving. The officers of '65 reviewed all of them, and they were all super stars. We finally selected Adriana Soto. She is going to UT this fall, her grades were excellent, and she had been active at Waltrip.   I feel sure that she will do well at UT.
Today, the bank account that was opened in 1965 was closed, the balance was zero.

We had a great class! We will not have any more big reunions, but we still start up our Ram Jams that we were having before Covid.
I will look forward to seeing you when we get the Ram Jams started

                                             All the best,

Patricia Bissonnet (Bissonnet)

I am not sure if the class has been updated on the passing of Lanelle Willis Holland.  She was a great friend during my high school days.  Here's the obit provided by her daughter.

LaNell Holland, age 78, of Livingston, Texas, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on May 29, 2025.

LaNell was born June 22, 1946 in Houston, Texas. She was a graduate of Waltrip High School and afterward attended business school.  In 1967, she married Michael Jack Holland in Huntsville. With her business skills, she worked in the business office of Crosby and Huffman ISD for many years before retiring to lake life on Lake Livingston. In her semi-retirement, she assisted her husband in running Greenhead Guide Service of Anahuac and Livingston.  In full-retirement, she enjoyed traveling and RV life. She eventually put down roots in Port Aransas and Rockport where she spent many days on the beach, the bay, and attending senior events with her friends and neighbors. She loved to fish and often out-fished any man in the boat with her.  She was an excellent cook known for her duck dirty rice and fried fish.  She had a green thumb and used it to beautify the landscape wherever she lived.  She was a gracious host and loved hosting family-especially her grandchildren who affectionately called her “Memaw.”  She loved to talk about Jesus and was a faithful attender of the nearest spirit filled church wherever she traveled and lived including First Assembly of God Livingston, First Assembly of God Leggett, Wildwood Gospel Church Onalaska, and Champion Life Centre Spring.  Her final years were spent at Timberwood in Livingston where she was known for her smiles and laughter earning her the nickname “giggles.”   LaNell was loved for being fun and kind and admired for her faith, generous nature, and hardworking character. She will forever be in our hearts.

LaNell was preceded in death by her parents, George and Clarice Willis and her husband, Michael Jack Holland.  She was survived by her children Tim Etie and wife Christy of Houston, Texas, Mike Holland and wife Rachel of Mesa, Arizona, and April Mullins and husband Michael of Conroe, Texas; sister and brother-in-law Beth and Danny Schellhase;  grandchildren Casey Etie-Hammond, John Etie, Kaitlyn Etie, Chase Holland-Swords, Zoie Holland, Holly Mullins, and Whitney Mullins; Step grandchildren Avery, Emme, and Ally Bartlett, and Zachary Sasenger; two great-grandchildren Charlee Rose Etie and Carter Swords.

A visitation will be held at Groveton Funeral Home on June 7th at 10 with a funeral service following at 11. She will be laid to rest at Bennet Cemetery in Apple Springs.

I have really enjoyed the class pictures that have been posted. Unfortunately,  mine have been lost.  However, there are a number of years that aren't included in those posted.  If any of you still have your class pictures, please post them.
I went to Garden Oaks. If I am correct, we had two classes of each grade, plus we has one class of midtermers. Most of them stayed over an extra semester at Waltrip to graduate with the entire class of '65.
I look forward to seeing you when we get Ram Jams going this fall!

                                                                                                       Have a great summer,

I just learned that our beloved Suzie Cunningham was in a bad car wreck mid-day today and did not make it - Jim is in the hospital. I know of no other details at this time but will update you when we know more.

The class meant so much to her.  We'll miss her.  R.I.P., dear Suzie.

Susie Cunningham will be missed!  She was one of the "spark"s who kept us informed and always feeling welcomed to each event after graduation!  Condolences to her family and all of her dear friends!

Suzie was the heart and soul of our class.  Though she wasn't an official part of the reunion committee for our 60th reunion, she was a very important part, calling so many of you to encourage you to attend and auditing the registrations .  Without her help we would not have had so many attending. And then her health would not allow her to make the drive herself. The phone was her lifeline as her health declined.  I, for one, will miss her calls, which always began with, "Well--hello there!"  My heart breaks at the loss of this lovely woman.

My heart aches. Suzie and I became friends when we were in the same rank in the guard. Over the last years we worked together on reunions. I had just talked with Suzie about our next Ram Jam in October. We're all going to miss her. She would want us to continue our times together.

Suzie was the glue that held so many of our class activities together.  And such a dear person besides.  A heartbreaking loss for her family and our class.
