Obituary for Robert Bernard Carbo
12/15/1946 – 04/23/2023

Robert Bernard Carbo closed his eyes for the last time on earth and opened his new eyes in heaven on Sunday, April 23, 2023. After a 2-year battle with cancer, his earthly body declined and Ben entered the arms of his Savior. We take comfort in knowing he is now with Jesus, his health fully restored. Yet, we are left behind with a deep hole in our hearts as we miss our dad and Papa. His life of service to his family, his church, his country, and his city was a legacy well-lived.

Robert Bernard Carbo was born on December 15, 1946 to Helen Mae Sammons and Bonnie Carbo in Houston, TX

He married his high school sweetheart, Lana Kay Wynn on March 26, 1966.

Together Ben and Kay made their home and began their family in Houston, TX with the birth of their son, Robert Wynn Carbo and their daughter, Kay Ellen Carbo. In 1979, they moved to Kay’s hometown of Palestine, TX to give their kids wonderful experiences one can only have in small town Texas.

Ben was a 1965 graduate of Houston’s Waltrip High School and star football player on a city championship team. His passion for football continued through life as he was an avid Texas Aggie football supporter, season ticketholder and even worked security for Texas A&M Athletics.

Shortly after high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served heroicly in Vietnam during historic times including the Tet offensive and in locations like Khe Sanh and Da Nang. Upon his return Ben joined the Houston police force as a patrolman earning honors and recognition for most felony arrests during his tenure. His leadership and communication talents then led him to a lengthy career in manufacturing and distribution leadership positions in the automotive supplier industry where he rose to General Manager of multiple plant and distribution operations for leading suppliers.

He is survived by his son, Robert Wynn Carbo of Southlake; daughter in law, Donna Kay Carbo; grandchildren David Carbo(wife Hannah Carbo), Elaina Carbo, Emily Carbo, Elise Carbo, Ella Carbo, Will Carbo, and Blake Carbo; daughter, Kay Ellen Crawford of Washington, TX; son-in-law, Aaron Crawford; grandchildren Carolina Crawford, Julia Crawford, Lillia Crawford, Hannah Crawford, Nehemiah Crawford, and Ezra Crawford; sister, Cheryl Carbo Engle (husband Jim Engle)of League City; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law H.C. and Ellen Ann Wynn Langston of Dallas; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ben was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Lana Kay Wynn Carbo; father, Bonnie Carbo; mother, Helen Mae Milton; and his brother, Richard Carbo.
