Roy Dale was one of our Cooley gang. James Larry, Sharon, Joyce, me, Larry, we came to Black instead of Hamilton. I think we were the country kids at least that was what it felt like to me. Roy Dale was funny and I was always glad to see him. I feel like a little part of me is missing without him.
Roy Dale and I entered Delmar Football Stadium when it was under construction. We found a ladder on the ground next to the outside wall, stood it up on the wall, climbed up the ladder to the top of the wall and dropped to the ground inside the stadium. We ran around for a while and decided to leave and forgot the gates were locked. I asked Roy Dale how in the hell are we going to get out of here? He said he didn't know. After a while we figured we could climb the arched columns on the basketball field house, get up on the roof and walk down an arched column that was outside the football stadium. That gave us a great idea, drag a bicycle up the arched column to the basketball fieldhouse roof and ride the bike from one end to the other. It was a breathtaking ride. Roy Dale and Bill Kessler told me they entered the stadium by way of a manhole in the parking lot. They crawled through the storm sewer pipes until they gained access into the stadium. I asked them what they would have done if it started raining while they were in the storm sewer pipes. They didn't have much to say about it.
