Mike was in my home room. I always wanted to date him but I was just another girl. I remember the day I went sailing with my family out of Seabrook Ship Yard in Kemah. Returning from Galveston Bay and being on one side of the ship channel I recognized Mike and a mutual friend on the other side in a Sail Fish. They were really having problems in what they were doing. I waived and they screamed "Come on we need some help". I scared Mike when I dove off in the channel, swam under big motor boats just to get to them on the other side. I came up along side the Sail Fish and asked for a vest. They did not have an extra - so when the channel patrol officers came by, Mike dunked me so they would not get a ticket. I managed to get the two boys in the Sail Fish back up the channel by swimming and pulling a rope on the front. After all of that, Mike started to come around the house just to visit and get an invite to sail with my father one weekend. He finally got to go with us. We had the best time - Falstaff Beer - Mike and I were given one each by Daddy and, he got to take the helm of the boat he had always like to see on the Bay. I think of him quite a lot - even today as I wanted to wear his senior ring donating me as his girlfriend.
