I remember Stephen Porter. He was a real nice guy and I know he must be missed. If anyone knows what happened to him please post.

I just found the class web-site and was sad to hear of Pix's passing. He played on the golf team and we would all throw our clubs and golf shoes in the trunk of the car on the way to the course. His shoes were so small next to my size 14s we teased him that they looked like little Pixie shoes ergo the name Pix. I wish I would have stayed in touch over the years.

My best bud.    Hard to describe my feelings for him as I still have guilt over missing his funeral as I was not able to face it that he was really gone.  He was a very loyal friend..actually got into fights when his jock buddines called me a fag for being in theatre.  We shared too many double dates for him to buy into that myth.

He had quite a temper,  first dispalyed to me in Jr High (he was assigned by Mrs. Marshall to look after the new guy..me) while playing b ball, he fouled me really badly and I called him out on it..I was on 4"10 at the time, but he must have been 4' 6", but he punched me out so fast I never knew what hit me.  On the golf course, I watched many a club fly into a lake or pond after  he missed a fairway or green which werent too many as he was really an excellent  golfer and had too much Scot blood to lose many clubs that way.

We stayed in touch after high school..he called me whenever business brought him to NYC and we always got together for a round of golf when I came in to visit family or he would bring his family out to the lake to my parents house for boating and his beloved beer.  After I returned to Houston, we had a  once a week ritual of meeting for lunch at Otto's and he was always my "ringer" partner for the many corporate golf events a banker gets to atteend.

He was a great Dad,,probably not so good a husband as the booze got in the way of that, but I know he was heartbroken when his marriage fell apart and he never  loved another woman after Mary.

He kept himself busy with his kids, golf, fishing and the stock market from  which he was able to make a living for himself.  We were opposites politically, but we agreed it was something we would just not discuss or would cut short once the discussion hit an impass.

I still  miss him a lot.  You only have one "Best Friend" in life.  Steve Porter was mine
