I accept your courageous award Robby Wallace. I know I will think about the award while Janne Semeyn Boone and I ride down a volcano mountain in Hawaii this coming summer. I heard it can be pretty scary riding on lava! You and your family seem very adventurous also! You must carry courage in your pocket, also! All of you with osteoarthritis of the knees or hips, please don't waste years in pain, be brave and trade those old ones in, and do EVERYTHING your therapist tells you. You won't regret it OR at least I haven't! Thanks again Robby and I hope we pass on the road bike-riding someday!

The Austin area has been good for me. I live abt 20mi NW of Austin on the North Shore of Lake Travis. Wimberely, Dripping Srings, New B, or San Marcos.

Hey Robbie...if I had my druthers it would be San Diego. However, not too bad in Rancho Cucamonga either. It's one hour from the beach, one hour from the desert and one hour from the mountains. You can actually go to the beach in the morning, go to the mountains to ski in the afteroon and end up in the desert for round of golf the next morning. All in 24 hours...Except for the taxes one has to pay to the "govenator" it doesn't get much better than that.

Robby, what about Savannah? You would be close to the ocean, not the whole state of Texas from the mountains, in addition, it is beautiful and "OLD, OLD". I love the southern accents of the people there and everything seems southernly SLOW. My family transplanted there, as well as South Carolina, and LOVE it! I seldom read about a lot of crime in Savannah, compared to some of the other places you mentioned. When biking you aren't faced with hills everywhere. I would think the cost of living would be a lot less than California, too! I've had a few MargRITAS WRITING THIS so I hope it makes sense!

Robby,
Not the Piney woods! It is beautiful, that's true, I even graduated from Stephen F. Austin, but it is so blazing hot in the summer, no breeze in all those trees and I think many counties are still dry, if that would make a difference to your retirement. That was a problem back in the days when we spent a lot of time making "runs" to the STATE LINE all the time. I don't mean to offend any of my classmates from east Texas. I don't hate it, but I wouldn't retire there! I think renting kayaks in Hawaii would be a fun retirement job. What about Hawaii? You would have lots of company every year, I'm sure! Jennie

You may also enjoy the new Waltrip website for the class of 1966: https://www.classcreator.com/Houston-TX-Waltrip-1966 which was started a few weeks ago so it is in it's beginning stages.

I looked at the 1966 class creator, b/c I also had friends in that class, but found it frustrating, in that, many of the profiles are locked and you have to be a member of their class to read anything about them. I'm glad ours doesn't have "the lock" quality. We're all from Waltrip, so who cares if someone from another class wants to get reconnected. Well, that's my opinion, anyway. I also wanted to share with all of you about a book I recently finished reading by one of our classmates Eileen Caudel Key, Dog Gone - A Feather Duster Mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am passing it around to my family to read. I LOVED her writing style and found the book's main character, Belle, dealing with many of the issues some of us face in our 60's with humor and dignity. I hope you will support one of our classmates by contacting her and ordering one. Of course, she has no idea I am writing this, but I truly feel you will enjoy a book written by someone who probably had the same English teacher as she did. It didn't rub off on me as well though!

Well, now isn't this a fun place to meet! Jenni gave me a push to come over and read...the fun things y'all have done. Wow. And she also gave me a gold star on my novel. What a great surprise. Wish I could make it to Fuddruckers. Maybe one day. From San Antonio, things are going pretty darn well. Me--Austria, Great Britain, Canada are my traveling experiences. Now it's up the street to my 6yo grandson with my purple light saber or around the block to my 2yo granddaughter with a tea set. Such fun. Isn't grandparenting amazing?

Jennie,
I find the same 'lock' problem on the 64 site.
There are a lot of folks I'd like to be able to
read a profile, but they have it locked. I'm with you,
we are all WHS grads & want to know about each other.
Of well..........just enjoy our site.
I am going to buy Eileen's book. Thanks for the info.

I'm enjoying all the pictures & profiles.
Buzz-------------where are the pictures??
We need pictures from all folks.

Everyone have fun on 5/14. Unfortunately, cannot make it as it is in the beginning of a work week - Don't think I can drive to Dallas and back in one evening. If anyone sees Tommy Britton - tell him he and his wife need to come back to Dallas just so my husband, Bill, and I can all go to dinner again.

Love to all,
Joanna Garrett

Hi everyone! I wish I could make the April 14 fun time but April 15 is too close. My husband is a CPA and I also do tax returns on weekends and week-nights so I'll be doing "extension" on the 14th. Maybe I can make another one soon.

I was wondering how many of our classmates became firefighters or crime-fighters. I would like to thank each one for placing his/her life on the line to protect all of us. I already thanked one Alvin Lynn Kiel, but I'd like to thank the other's without rereading every single profile.
I'm looking forward to seeing those coming to Fuddrucker's on the 14th.

Peggy Lee Pratt (Ervin)

I DEFINETLY think it should be a 'law' ----- that you should be at least 8 feet away to take a picture of any person OVER 60..............
anyone agree?????????

04/20/09 07:18 PM #65

Robert (Robby) Wallis

you guys all look pretty good for 60 year olds...

I'd recognize Jennie Anderson Dylan on the street..

Rich Meek looks just like he did in 65....well, almost

If I get to any of these functions in the future,

and pictures are taken, I would appreciate being the

person tagged as " the back of Robby Wallis" or "Robby

Wallis in the background", yeah, the guy who's head you

can just barely see behind the gas pump.

Peggy, I think the picture formula should be 10 ft for

anyone 60 yrs of age...and an additional 5 ft each year

till 70... then hock the cameras

At the risk of being stoned, has there been any thought

to having this monthly event held at a different

location?

I know a dive bar in the Rice Village where they play

live blues, and have a large dance floor...

Kay Watters (Greene)

I really wanted to make it, but income tax held me back and I thought maybe I'll just wait til school is out, so may make the June 09?

I've enjoyed reading the posts! I suppose I was born and will stay in Texas!! Even though I'm out here in the country, still need to touch my feet on "Houston concrete" sporadically!

Now I have close-ups on fb too. (posted by others)
I never realized how many wrinkles I have around my eyes when I smile or laugh......guess I never looked in the mirror at myself and smiled or laughed. (maybe should have). I forget how OLD I am......that's probably because I am soooooo 'YOUNG AT HEART'.

CAMERAS NEED TO BE BACK AT LEAST 8-10 FT............

04/22/09 02:25 PM #68

Kay Watters (Greene)

Hey Peggy,

I didn't know how many wrinkles I've acquired out here under the sun until I had my cataracts done! I was so shocked that I asked my former boss, if I have looked like that the whole time I worked there.

She wasn't helpful!! But, might as well accept them. Now my twin, Sue, has wrinkles as well, her's are in different areas...isn't that a Hoot? Different lifestyles I guess.

More than you needed to know...but I wanted to tell.
