Hey Robby, I like your idea about the club. Maybe we could do that too, with those of us that like to dance or watch people dance, or those of us that like to visit with people while others dance. Maybe we could do it and keep Fuddrucker's, as well, just a different week. I'm not the best dancer, Janne Semeyn Boone was an AWESOME dancer, but I love to pretend I'm good! I'm back to bike riding every other day. Maybe some of our classmates may like to do that. There are alot of fun places to ride in Texas. How about it, does anyone want to ride bikes together? People shouldn't worry about wrinkles. I'm sporting 4 stitches today on my forehead from skin cancer, and not my first stitches, thanks to my surfing days w/o sunscreen. A wrinkle is alot less painful and wrinkles are free, you don't have to dip into savings to pay for them, unless you are into face lifts, and those make my stitches seem free and painless, don't they?

Hello to all. Love this website. I know I will spend way too much time here. I have tried to enter the 64 website but could only see the forum section. Soo funny stories from our past and some of those I knew and spent some time with. I know alot of you thought Tim Cox and I were joined at the hip back then. Believe it or not he is lost. I spent some time with him in 1995 but if anyone knows any thing about him please reply. Residing in Colleyville, Texas and still working with hopes of retiring in a couple of years.

Hello Mike, glad your now on the Site. Thought you used to have black hair?!

On Waltrip64.com, they have announced that Allen Geiser (Betty McKirahan's hubby and classmate) is undergoing a heart by-pass today. Please keep him in your prayers!

Robby-
You said it best as I know since I have been there and done that with the heart surgery. Mine was at the Tx Heart Institute many years ago before I was able to have a child. But I know they have made many advances in the procedures. While it is a scary thing,my prayers are with he and Betty and their family, and I have every confidence that all will go well.

Good to see Gloria (64) in one picture. I met a Hornick (Slade) the other day in Lampassas. He is Gloria's cousin from Glenrose. Small world. Janelle Marshall Walter

Betty and family have our thoughts and prayers. Certainly glad to hear Allen came through ok.
Hey all, check out the picture I found recently. Added to my profile. Any identities to add or correct?

Hi Kay glad to be here too. That picture came from the time when I had plenty of hair, no matter the color. It turned gray and loose.

I remember Robbie making that hole-in-one. We had the class reunion on 610 at 290 that year. You couldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole that evening!

I was in that sixth grade class. Boy, our teacher was a really stern lady.

Yes, Mike Bell, all the pics are mind-boggling! I moved to Shepherd Park Plaza in Jr. High and missed the elem. days...boo hoo! Does anyone know an Andrea Nelson, cheerleader in 1966, 1967?

Reading your Bio as a PD career, that is what my son, Todd, does for a living out here, and has worked out at the Renaissance Festival in Plantersville, TX during the season, for the extra money. Bet you remember those days.

Ooh, Ms. Mullinex. I had her when I was a mid-termer before my Mother said I could not have her again, EVER! That's when she kept me back a semester so I wouldn't be in High 5th in September with Ms. Mullinex. Then I was in Mr. Vineyard's class and I was no longer a '64 graduate, but a '65. Ms. Mullinex LOVED my cursive, BUT nothing else about me, especially my hyper ways, no teacher understood back then. She also LOVED science. Remember Oak Forest and the big sliding doors, how cool was that? Janne Semeyn wants to know if anyone can remember the school song, "We're from Oak Forest, the best school of all......?????Her Mother taught 1st grade, and was in fact, my teacher, so she should know it, if anyone does. I hated recess b/c no one ever picked me for Kickball. It seemed I was always the last one, not picked and just had to be on the team w/o anyone thinking I would add anything to the team. I was still weak from when I had polio in 1st grade. Now, I'm loving being athletic on my bike! Did anyone else find recess or Ms. Mullinex difficult?

Hey Robbie,

I just spent 4 days in Del Mar right across from Torrey Pines State Beach. The weather and air were absolutely beautiful. You mentioned that was one of the places you would like to retire. At the risk of being blackballed, I have to say it sure beats the Texas Gulf Coast.

I had Mrs Mullinex. I remember she had beautiful penmanship. I was so shy & nerdy she never bothered me. And yes I remember the OF school song and as a matter of fact my sister Fran and I went to the 50th anniversary oF Oak Forest Elem. I remember we saw Ricky Stickland and his wife. Since my son married I have found that my daughter-in-law is Ricky's cousin(don't know how far removed)

Kay-
How long have you lived in the Anderson area? My 2nd cousin was the Grimes County sheriff for several years, before having some sort of lies told about him. I'm not sticking up for him because he is 'kin but because I know he is a decent law-abiding citizen---probably more so than I.

Sheriff Foster? We have been out here since 1995, although I always spent a couple of weeks here every summer. Politics were "gunning" for him. LOL.

Janne Semeyn (Boone)

Linda, as Jennie says I remember almost all of the Oak Forest school song - all but the ending (So here's to Oak Forest . . . .????) If you can tell me the last 2 or so lines I will be gleefully content. It was such a catchy little tune that was written by the kindergarten teacher Mary Jane LeCrone. I guess I remember it because we sang it for seven years - kindergarten through sixth grade. I unfortunately remember nothing of the Black or Waltrip songs!

I have class photos from kindergarten through sixth grade that I'm going to post as soon as I can get them scanned.

Yes Bill Foster is my cousin.

Janne--
So here's to Oak Forest where we learn the way to be finer boys & girls at work or at play.

Linda, you crack me up! We'll learn to be finer boys and girls at work and at play...I laughed so hard that you would remember that song. Does anyone remember Dr. Dishron with the "ELECTRIC PADDLE"? I never wanted to go to his office, ever. Nowadays, most kids could care less or they would just call CPS on the school!

Kay,

I knew Andrea Nelson who was a cheerleader at Sam Houston HS . Had a few dates with her my senior year.

For grins, I scanned in some old programs that you may enjoy. You may notice some familiar names! Oak Forest Music Studios recitals from 1956, 1957, 1959. Oak Forest Elem. Kindergarten Easter program. Enjoy! http://picasaweb.google.com/spuckett65/OakForestMusicStudios?authkey=Gv1sRgCPrdkbDe1pmSuAE&feat=directlink You will have to copy & paste the e-address. Contact me if you have trouble viewing this.

Stephen,
Those are a hoot! By today's standards it's a wonder we all learned to read and write, what with all the time that must have gone into those programs. It looks like they would have taken HOURS to perform, much less rehearse.

Robby,
Ahhhhhhh, Mr. Gadbois! I am a painter today b/c of his influence. Remember his ART BEE with slides? I came in 2nd, only because every slide I was shown had a DaVinci blue background or was a Michaelangelo sculpture. It was incredible luck and I just laughed everytime a new slide came up b/c it made it so easy for me! Were you the winner?

Janne,
I can't wait to see Stephen's pictures. What about those May Fete's and the hours of practice out on the hot hardtop? I always was so much taller than any of the boys I partnered with. My family always teased me about slinging those poor boys around all through the dances. Sometimes when they ran out of boys they would make me be one for the dance, again b/c of my height. Anyone remember being my partner, poor soul!

04/30/09 04:48 PM #91

Janne Semeyn (Boone)

Oh, those May Fete programs! Each year meant a different costume and our poor mothers had to sew them or pay someone to have them sewn. Then we'd sit/stand around the court all dressed up until it was our grade level's turn to perform. Those are wonderful memories! !

I have posted all of my class pictures from Kindergarten through Sixth Grade on my Profile page. Unlike Mike Bell, I don't remember many of the names. But I'm sure you will be able to pick out Bernard Ash, Robin Trimble, Adrienne Pendry, Jon Bell, Robby Colmenares, Judy Carpenter, and Katie Piper to name a few. We had many homeroom teachers together. If anyone wants to send me names of people they recognize, I can start to assemble a list for each picture. Right now the list would contain too many ???s.

On the back of my Kindergarten Class photo is a stamp that reads "PARENTS: Please send 60 cents to school at once if you want this picture of your child's class, you may re-order as many as you want. Thanking you. PHOTOGRAPHER". Sixty cents! ! !

Enjoy!
Janne

Oh my! I remember sixth grade. I have seen the group picture that Mike Bell posted and have been able to pick out about 1/2 of them. I'm on the back row, 4th from the left.

I too went to Oak Forest Elementary's 50th anniversary. Saw Mrs. Russell, Jerry's mom. The new school sure looks a lot different. I wanted to buy one of the bricks from the original school but I was too late.

Janne Semeyn (Boone)

With immense help from Steve Puckett and Bernard Brady, I have been able to put faces to names on the class pictures on my profile. But like Steve told me, this has to be a collaborative effort, especially from all of you who went to Oak Forest. Please check out the pictures to make sure I put your name with the right picture, and to help fill in the gaps of names I haven't put in yet.

Thanks bunches,
Janne
