OMG Robbie, I am going to get you good!  Obviously, I was having a good time, but if anyone remembers me at all during  my Oak Forest days, they will know, as my brother's knew, I was one bossy Mother Hen!  Well, it looks like even with a few drinks under my belt I am getting all the little ones where they were supposed to be at the May Fete!  I laughed so hard at your comment Robby and I guess I will always be the tall Mother Hen, but now I have the "boobs" to go with the title!

Can't wait until this weekend.  Joe  and his wife just arrived from London, my sister-in-law, his former wife Helen McDougal Anderson will be arriving tomorrow.  We're attending various functions at Waltrip's 50th.  I hope to see a lot of you there.  Lots of work putting it together.  Just went to The Buckle and got some new LONG jeans for the barbecue!  UMMMM, I love barbecue.

Well, maybe not!

Anybody out there going to any of the events?

Jennie

Jennie, I will probably be out of town. If that changes I'll stop by some events. I hope everyone attends. That's pretty amazing that someone is coming from London.

That news made me come back for awhile to the '65 group!  4:00 it starts to rock at Happy Hour!!  Fun, fun!

Good morning all. Last night there was a gathering of the football team from the Coach Burton era at the Cadillac Bar. It was a sedate group. Just quiet conversation and ice tea.  LOL. Anyway some of the guys are planning to participate in the festivities. Jennie against my better judgement I'm going to attend the Happy Hour get together. I'll be there early before you start getting rowdy. Ingrid, you could still get on a Southwest flight and be here in time for this shindig. See you folks at the bar tonight!

Wish I could be there...I'll be there in spirit.  Y'all have a drink for me.

The Happy Hour gathering was supposed to be in the Azalea Room which was about 8X8'. After that most everyone went to the bar and at one point I would say there was at least 200 people. The person that I saw that was the youngest was from the '82 Class. They're were so many people that you couldn't talk to everyone even if you tried your hardest. We saw a part of the parade but came back home after that. But everyone seem to have a good time even with all the noise.

On Saturday we saw a part of the parade but came back home after that. There were alot of people at the parade and the functions after that, and as I understand it, the function in the auditorium lasted 'til about 4PM. I haven't heard from anyone who went to the dance. So Jennie let me hear about that.

If anyone has any good pictures please share them with me and I will post them on our site.

Everyone have a great week.

Morning everyone. I only attended the happy hour Friday but Linda is right it was a good turnout. The official gathering place was truly dreary and would have accommodated about 17 people. However Waltripians are innovative and we made do. We just took over the bar and the lobby, problem solved. Glad I didn't go to the football game since Waltrip got the tar beat out of them. I did see a gal from the class of '93.  She was very attractive and I got to thinking that graduating in '93 she's just a baby. Then I started doing some schoolboy math and realized she is 35, yikes. . .pretty depressing. Well it was a major effort on the part of all the folks that put it together. Thanks to them for doing it. We'll have to get reports from people who attended more events than me. Jennie, we're waiting. Ingrid, not to worry I had a drink for you.

Wow!  A lot has gone on in the past five weeks!  We have returned from an extended trip of Estonia and European Russia.  Sorry we had to miss the 45th, but we had fun... just in another way.  The reunion pictures are wonderful!  I could recognize almost everyone without reading the subtitles or nametagsThat is amazing that most of you have not changed at all in 45 years1965 was a great year, and so is 2010!  I cannot wait to see what our reunion in 2015 brings.  Pak'a pak'a (Bye bye).

Hi, everybody from the land of Fall Foliage:   We had a couple of false alarms that there would be frost but this was still my cue to bring in the house plants for over-wintering under lights.  This year I am 'lightening the load' - i.e. not bringing in so many so I don't have to lug lots around, manage their care, etc.

Hope all is swell with everybody!

Ok folks, Linda and Suzie work hard to keep this website working a current. The least you can do is use it some. Don't just read and run away, post something. You don't have to be verbose but a little more verbiage than "Hi there"  Mr. Wallis would be good. The man travels all over the world and that's it. .. Hi there? Tam you go an sit on yaks at the top of the world, you teach some of the brightest students in the country outside of Texas surely you've got some stories. Hello Ingrid, did California fall off in the Pacific? Sweetie, there's bound to have snow in the high country  by now. We've got a national election coming up next Tuesday that's very important. You know why it's important because they all are!!! Jennie where there heck have you been riding your bike? I met Jennies' brother Joe at the Waltrip 50th Happy Hour (some got happier than others). He's proud that of Pete, Jennie and him he's the only one with an original knee. All you other folks that I didn't pick on jump in too! Hello, let us know if you're alive, going to vote, know your way home, something!

Thank you very much

Ok Rob I stand corrected. I'll buy you a glass of wine. I just want to get folks participating again before Linda gets really irritated. If she does it's not going to be pretty!

I hope everyone has a great weekend. The weather is supposed to be glorious here in H Town (aka Paradise).

10/31/10 09:32 PM #837

Ingrid Sears (Spiteri)

Just jet-setted in from Palm Springs...opened my place up for the season.  We have had weird weather here...can you imagine, it rained, and  in October, no less.  It was down to 48 degrees last night.  I feel like it is the middle of winter.  Fear not though, it is supposed to be 80 tomorrow.

What's new? I almost killed my dog last week...I poisoned him by giving him a 1/2 an Advil for his hurt leg...who knew?  He threw up all night, I took him in to the vet and he was on an IV for two days,  I guess Advil can cause renal failure in dogs. Thank the Lord, he pulled through and is his old neurotic self.  An expensive and guilt ridden lesson to learn.

Well, it is 7:30 and I have had a total of 7 trick or treaters.  Not many kids left in the neighborhood.  They are all grown up.  It's kind of sad.

Good morning all. As predicted it was a glorious weekend in Paradise aka Houston. We could use some rain though but I took care of that. I washed my car this weekend. We should have a deluge today or tomorrow.

I didn't have any doggie medical crisis this weekend. Ingrid glad your pooch is recovering. The way we look after our pets and bond with them is truly amazing. Liz had a great time experiencing Halloween for the first time. We had a two dozen kids show up but she didn't think she got in nearly enough licking. However one problem did come to light. She had so much fun she says she wants to go trick or treating next year. The problem is she says she want s to get a dog costume. I may have a bit of  identity confusion here.

Wow, today is Nov. 1st, where has the year gone? Home Depot and Lowe's had their Christmas decorations up two weeks ago. I guess in about a month they'll take all that down and start putting in Easter decorations. Don't want to pass up any marketing opportunities.

Time to return to the salt mine. Later dudes and dudettes.

Rich

I had exactly zero trick r treaters last night. They must have gone to church gatherings or the community outings.

Oh well it's now Nov and next is Christmas. In a very short time we will beginning 2011, so lets all remember to keep in touch and get together as much as possible. Have a great week everyone and for all you deer hunters I know the season starts this weekend.

Let's keep this Msg Forum going---------

11/01/10 10:45 AM #840

Jan Barnes (Nimtz)

I too had zero trick or treaters.  I guess it was too much for them to scale an 8' gate and hike 1/4 mile uphill to the house for a Tootsie Roll Pop.  What's wrong with kids these days?

On another note to all you hunters... yesterday's breakfast on our porch was interrupted by two eight-point bucks chasing each other and engaging in head-to-head combat for our entertainment.  Unfortunately neither a camera nor a gun was close at hand.

Anyone else enjoying this cooler weather?

Where are you Jennie?

11/01/10 05:13 PM #841

I think Jennie is on a cruise with her family. Did you get an email from me about the Nov 16 get together? If not call me at 512 519 9036.

Everyone Get Out & Vote if you haven't already!!!!!!!!!  It's never been more IMPORTANT than in this Election*********

Just think of your GRANDKIDS

Have a great day to all------

11/02/10 12:13 PM #843

Richard Meek

Good morning all. Linda is correct if you haven't already voted please do so. No only for the sake of your grandchildren but for your own sake.  All elections are important. Make your selections and don't think your vote isn't important . . . it is! Also, thanks to all you folks who voted early. You won't be at the polls when I go vote at lunch. I really appreciate it. Two years ago 66% voted early. There was no congestion at the polls. I heard on the news that over 60% had voted early this year. Although I wonder how they determined that until the polls close and they know how many ballots were cast. It makes you wonder how bright the people that write those news scripts are doesn't it?

Sorry about the Rangers losing in the World Series. The Giants were so hot it was just their time. They couldn't do anything wrong. Oh well that just clears the decks for listening to election returns tonight. Does anyone else remember when transistor radios started becoming available? For us guys that was really cool when some kid had one, we have the opportunity to listen to a day game during lunch. A lot of people would take them to work. I did for years. It has been a while since they played day games during the WS. I guess television pays too much to broadcast the games so they want them at night to get the biggest viewing audience. You teachers out there, do most kids seem to be even aware the WS is going on anymore or is it just more generations up the line that are interested?

Well it's time to go exercise my right to vote and cast my ballot. If you haven't voted please do so. You have until 7:00 this evening. You'll be glad you did!

Richard

Enjoy the small things in life,

In the long run they may turn out to be the big things
