Thanks to Suzy, Linda, Jacquie and all the other folks that helped putting two great evenings together. It was great to see a lot of friends from the past that I haven't seen for a long time. It's good to see the ones I see frequently too. Paige wants everyone to remember, dont use the term  "old". Use "older"!

Hey Roger Felton. You weren't in attendance. I hope everything is ok. Since you weren't there it gave us an opportunity to. . .  ...  .hhmmm, shall we say discuss you!

FYI for those of you who are revved up now about seeing Waltrip friends, on October 17th the Class of '64 is having a Fall Fling (they're having quarterly meetings at different locations) at Goode Company -Bar-B-Que at 20102 Northwest Frwy. 77065. If you want to attend contact Johnny Sheffield at (979) 203-7209 or johnnysheffield@gmail.com to rsvp. There's no charge, they need to know how many are comming to tell Good Company. Starts at: 5:00 ends at 10:00. Food and drinks are on your nickel. You're not going get much for a nickel so you better budget for more than that! They're still having the monthly meetings at Fuddruckers on the second Tuesday of the month.

Keep Calm, Carry on,

Rich

It was so wonderful seeing everyone. That 50 years sure went by fast. The organizers did a fantastic job. Arletta, sorry that you had to return home due to a family tragedy. Prayers to your family.  I'll call you soon.

Yeah Richard.  There I was all paid up, room booked and all set to go.  Even had taken a bunch of pics of my rifles, cap & ball pistols and even my dog Timex (he's my "watch" dog).  But late Thursday evening I started running a fever...not a high one but had Beverly concerned.  Then chills set in and she put the kabosh on going to the big Five O.

Even though I was a lot better by Friday, she thought I might have a bug that you guys might not get a kick out of me sharing with you.  Don't tell Beverly but I think it was a reaction to her Chupracabra burgers and tuna ice cream dessert that kinda had me shakin' for a while.

But I see several others weren't able to attend either and some for far more serious reasons than mine.  But at least somebody took pictures so I can have a vicarious experience that way.  It would help too if you could share some of the gossip about me.  Might make me feel like I was actually there and had just gone to the sandbox.

Daggnabbitt, I had so many big hugs and hearty handshakes all set to go.  Wanted to tell Sandy Spears how jealous I got every time she'd hug that huge goofy poodle of hers.  Wanted to tell Dorothy Fowler how I always regretted not being more of an active friend to her.  She's such a sweet person with an incredibly good heart.

I wanted to see my ole buddy and former roommate Tommy Wade.  Never a dull moment when he was around.  And I wanted to thank Roy George profusely for saving my butt from drowning in a Freeport undertow.  Wanted to buy him a beer and give him my house.

I could go on and on but you guys know there's just no substitute for being in the presence of so many lifelong friends.  The kind of friends that you maybe haven't seen in 50 years but, when you meet, it's like you were never apart.

Ok, now an offering for the suggestion box.  Let's do something no other high school has ever done and have a 51st reunion.  Huh? Whatdaya think?  We could have it out at that Sylvan Beach pavilion.  If that's gone now, we can have it in the parking lot.  Heck, even the landfill site would work for me just to be able to see you guys again.  I'll do all the work myself.

Speaking of that.  Do you guys know how many hours of work it took to put this 50th reunion together?  We can't begin to thank Suzie May and the team enough for what they did (even though I missed it).  Thanks a million.

Now let's all stay healthy and happy for the next bash.  And I promise to be there!

Roger Felton,

I was disappointed you did not show up.  My husband took a picture of the .45 and did the write up on how it was all customized.  If you will send to me your mailing address to jeg8503@gmail.com, I'll send you the picture and the write up.

You were missed and I did take lots of pictures to which I need to download to a disc to send to Suzie May for her to post to the Waltrip website.

Hope you are feeling better.

Thanks so much Joanna.  Feeling like my old self again...what doesn't hurt, doesn't work.

Your kind thoughtfulness is appreciated and I'm sending you an email in a jiffy.

Felton,

Missed seeing you too my friend. I figured you had just skipped Friday night and as fate would have it, I skipped Saturday night. Texted out to you on FB though. Glad to hear your difficulties were not as severe as some others and you have recovered.

Bernard Brady

Hello to everyone !!

Because of illness on my part, I could not handle the 800 mile round trip of driving in from San Angelo, TX. Had our reservations all ready and room booked also. I spent all day Saturday in bed. I would not have been good company. Boy, I had a big bunch of hugs to pass out just like Roger. David Barrow called me this morning and said he thought about mailing my name badges to us as a souvenir. Our daughter and granddaughters live in Katy and we had lunch with them planned for Sunday.

Linda Marmion Linder has been so kind to me. Suzie May also. Thanks for all your prayers. It's Monday afternoon and I am starting to feel just a tad better. Not well enough to leave to house though. I guess sometimes things just work out as God planned. Right this minute, I just feel grateful to be functioning...

We send our love to all of you.  Love the Facebook photos.  Bernard and Susan

Arletta Parnell (Glankler)

Hey Roger, I think a little 51st reunion would be great.  I too missed it, and it broke my heart. All the months looking forward to it.  But as Bubba Gump said, life is not always a bowl of cherries.  I hope we all keep writing here, and enjoy each other this way until we can all meet again.  And I had all my guns, hoping to do some practice, which I did at my sisters, but I was hoping for some time with all the gun fun people lol. Take care, keep us smiling, and God bless.

Bernard, what facebook photos?  I wanna see.  Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers.  It is so sad to see 3 lives lost due to texting while driving.  And one was not wearing a seatbelt.  The young lady who was texting.  Just really sad.  God bless you all and be safe.

Arletta-

Go to Joyce Barta's Facebook page.  She has posted numerous wonderful photos from our 50th. Her hubby did the camera work. Very nice photos!

Those are some great photos, Bernard.  Thanks Joyce for posting those so quickly.  Makes me wish I had been there all the more.  What a great looking bunch.  OMG, the girls all looked so gorgeous.

The camraderie and timeless friendships makes me so proud (and humbled) to be part of such a wonderful group of exceptional people.

Sandy Spears (Koslosky-Siddall)

Hey, Roger. You're so entertaining. I loved that dog. Remember when the bunch of us on Saxon used to play tackle football in my yard? My daddy made me quit. I wasn't happy with that edict.

Sorry you were sick but glad you've reccovered. You have a wise wife - we would not have appreciated your bug. Dianna Dudley and I were watching for you. Maybe next time - next year?

Sandy

I was looking forward to the re-union also and ready to make the 1,300 mile trip from PA when events took a wrong turn.. Was looking forward to that beer from you, Rodger and seeing everyone. Austin Zent drove 800 miles from Fla. and the last I heard Chip Barnette was going to make it. Tam Siedoe in NC was going to go, but decided to work another year teaching Bio before retiring. Could not fing pics of reunion on FB.

Rodger, your idea of making a 51th reunion has my vote. Will help out to get it going. I hope to make it out of this Yankee part of the states and back to wonderfull Texas before winter hits here.

Reunion Pictures.

I downloaded all of the pictures I took on my classmate profile page.  I'll be sending Suzie a disc for her to download on our 50th reunion page but thought some of you would like to see the ones I took.

Great time and again, thanks to all of the wonderful ladies that put this past weekend into one of my memory books.

Love to all

Joanna

Roger Felton

We'll meet up sometime in the near future, Roy.  Really looking forward to it.

Sandy, I do remember playing tackle football in your yard.  You never asked me why I tackled you when you didn't have the ball...or why I took so long to let go of ya. It was the only chance I had to hug ya and not worry about getting punched in the nose.  But it'd a been worth it even if you had.  Wow, a red-haired goddess lived on my block!...and she played tackle football...what are the odds?  LOL.

Kenneth (Ken) Furstenfeld

A big thanks to Linda, Suzie, Jacques and all the others that helped put this 50th reunion together!!!  Lily and I had a great time visiting!  I renewed multiple friendships that I won't let go anymore as time is too short for us all!  I look forward to the next reunion and I will most definitely be there!  God Bless You ALL!

Sandy Spears (Koslosky-Siddall)

Hey, Rog. Well those words were never used to describe me. I'd forgotten that I even was a red head. Did you ever get hold of my brother? Were y'all in the same class or was he a year behind you?

Looking forward to a get together. Since you mentioned it, maybe you could facilitate a mini reunion.

09/03/15 12:26 PM #1589

Roger Felton

No, I was going to ask you whatever happened to Dusty.  He was kind of a quiet kid as I remember.

Ok, I've always wondered...if you were named Sandy and your brother was named Dusty, if your parents had had a 3rd child, what would they have named it to keep the theme going?  LOL

A mini reunion would be great.  We could have it at your house and then I'd be sure to invite you.  Seriously, it really would be great to see you again and meet Beverly.  Ya'll both put up with me for a lotta years.

50 gala was truly a blast from the past.Thank everyone involved. When we were touring Black,we were talking about the sock hops we had in the gym on Fridays after school, dancing to Little Richard and Jerry Lee.That would be awesome again. Can't wait till next time.

The more I see those reunion photos the more I wish I could have gone.  I coulda wrapped myself in tin foil and poked a little hole for the thermometer and a couple for my eyeballs......nah, Bev woulda poked a few more holes with a stick...

Hey Sandy, I got the perfect name if you had had another brother....Rocky...or maybe Stoney.  Whatcha think?

If you had a sister, I'm still thinkin

09/10/15 06:21 AM #1593

Sandy Spears (Koslosky-Siddall)

Hey,Roger. Those names sound better than some of our other classmates thought of - Sandy, Dusty then Dirty. Not nice! :-)

On another note - loved the mums given to the girls for all their hardwork. Way cool. Thanks to whomever thought that up. Whomever-wouldn't Mrs. Edwards be proud of my verbage. Anyone remember her?

09/10/15 12:35 PM #1594

Roger Felton

LOL, I'm sorry for starting that "What would your siblings names be" thing, Sandy, but it is funny.  My sister Ardie and I always thought ya'lls names were cool.

I don't remember Mrs. Edwards but maybe a photo would ring a bell.  I was trying to remember the name of that male teacher...History, I believe...that would stand in front of the class and babble about something (reminded me of Ben Stein's part as a teacher on The Wonder Years).  As he spoke, there would be this big bubble of salava that would grow on his bottom lip.  The more he lectured, the bigger it got.

Then, like clockwork, he would move forward and stand right in front of my desk.  Then he'd say a word like "Pompeii" and disaster would strike.  I'd be squirming around in my chair trying to dodge that incoming blob of bubbling backwash with only about 50% success.  Finally I started using my history book as a shield and that worked better.  But old Mr. Whatchamacallit would just ignore me and keep on talking as he loaded his lip for another shot.

In fairness, he was a really nice guy but a bit too old and senile to be teaching.  Just can't remember his name.  But at least that's one class that I never dared try to catch a nap.

Is this the correct one?

James King

She is the correct one, Stephen.  Mrs. Edwards was so negative her home room class was removed from her.
