I was sad to learn that Betty McKirahan Geiser's husband Allen died on Friday, July 17. We all remember Allen as one of our outstanding football players from the Class of '64 when Waltrip won the city championship. He and Betty were high school sweethearts and have been married since shortly after leaving Waltrip. My heart goes out to her.

#34 was a special breed of men dedicated to his family, friends and teammates. May the peace of God be with Betty and family knowing that Allen is free from pain and suffering and is with God in His forever Kingdom.

Dear friends,

I have sad news  - Nancy Lyons Heinze passed away on Saturday, July 18.  She has had many health problems since her stroke about 20 years ago, but she never let them get her down.  She and her husband, Leonard, attended the 50th Reunion.  Nancy and I both went to Baylor and were roommates there as well in a sorority together.  I will miss her dearly.

As soon as I learn the details and receive the obituary I will pass it on.

Jeanne

Friends, Pat H. Foley is handling the arrangements for Allen Geiser.  Due to Covid, a public service is not scheduled at this time. You can go to Dignity.com and leave a message for Betty and her children.

Thank you, Jeanne for telling us about Nancy Lyons' passing.  I was friends with Nancy in elementary school, and so enjoyed seeing her at the 50th reunion.  She was a quiet girl, but when you got to know her she was fun, and full of life.  I am saddened to hear that she is gone.

The new normal caused by Covid hasn't stopped the North Texas Class of 65 members from getting together. In May, yours truly met in Grapevine and had breakfast with Bill Polk and his precious wife before Bill and I headed down to Lake Livingston to visit with Jim Cunningham and Beth at their lake house. In August, I found that Mike Bell has lived witin 10 minutes of my house for the last 20 years. We went fishing together at my fishing lease in Commanche County and enjoyed catching up. Last week, Mike and his lovely wife Ellen had me over for dinner. It was a special treat to meet and get to know Ellen. Mike is one lucky guy. Mike and Ellen will celebrate their 31st anniversary this year. Yesterday I met my dear friends Jeanne Spencer Adams and husband, Johnny, in Rockwall. We all had lunch with Joanna Hinton Garrett and her husband Bill at Olive Garden in Rockwall. Joanna had come to Rowlett to see her doctor. Even with the health issues Joanna is dealing with, she is the same beautiful and charming lady she has always been. We had a great time together. So the point is this: if you are sensible in protecting yourself taking sensible precautions to avoid being exposed to Covid you can still enjoy life with your friends and family.

Amen, brother Ben!  We had an impromptu meeting when we realized Joanna's doctor was in Rockwall, not far from me.  So we talked and decided we should all meet and catch up!  We had a wonderful time at Olive Garden visiting, eating soup and salad and breadsticks and just talking and laughing again.  Benny was so sweet to bring Joanna and me beautiful orchid plants, and the three guys talked about hobbies and interests, including guns and fishing and writing.  We were so busy talking we didn't get a group shot, but here are a couple Johnny took.  (Next time we'll get a group shot.)

So Benny's right, be careful always, but get out and enjoy life!  heart

Ben & Jeanne and any other of our classmates. That sounds like such a wonderful gathering of friends you had in Rockwall, plus Bennie's reconnection with classmates on previous occasions. Ed & I so enjoyed Jeanne & John's visit last year when they were in our area. If any of you are in the hill country and near Boerne we would love to see you.

My dear longtime friend, Jim Cunningham, passed away peacefully in his sleep last night at home after spending Thanksgiving with his family which he adored. Jim had suffered from heart disease for over twenty years and it has been by God's grace that he survived long enough to see his family grow up to be his pride and joy.
Beth will have a celebration of his life, the date yet to be determined. Please join me in prayer for Beth and the family

This has been a challenging year for all of us, especially those who have lost loved ones. But be of good cheer, we still have much to celebrate: the birth of our Saviour, love of family and friends and God's promise to heal our land if we call upon His name for deliverance. So put up your tree, wrap presents for you loved ones and hang the stockings with care. Then await the miracle of Christmas. Oh, and don't miss the Christmas Star appearing in the lower west horizon after dark on December 21st.
