After graduation from Waltrip I completed my undergraduate degree in education at Texas Tech, married my college boyfriend and taught for a year in Louisiana before we returned to Tech to get our Masters degrees. We went on to A&M for our PhDs, moving east in 1977. We lived in Auburn, Al. (and Auburn University) for 13 years, where both my sons were born. I was an at home mother for six years, and a part-time professor at two colleges (AU and AUM) for the next 7 years, which means I really worked full-time or two full time jobs all those years!
In 1991 I moved to Georgia (to a northern suburb of Atlanta) and my current college when my husband and I divorced. At Kennesaw State I have the best colleagues in the world, a demanding but wonderful job, and a career I love. I am both a history professor and a member of the sub-group in the department who are the History Education faculty. My main work in that program is in advising and (some less personal responsibilities). The personal work with students I help to progress through the challenges of a demanding program for two to three years, and often keep in touch with as their careers develop over the next several years, is very rewarding.
In my "personal" life, Feb 2012 I married Dan Page, who is a public school teacher by day, and a college instructor of geography at KSU at night, in -- after a 14 year "courtship." He is a big support for all of us who work in the History Education program. My two great sons still live in the Atlanta area. Check out www.southface.org for information on Bourke, who is in a major firm that promotes sustainability and green building. Working with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, he has developed a nationwide initiative to "green" historic buildings. Spencer completed two degrees in English and English Education. He taught abroad for a year before changing "careers" to work for a major board game company here in Atlanta. My stepson Matt is a chef for a small "family cooking restaurant" also in the Atlanta region.
The final family members are three spoiled rotten dogs who weight a total of 225 pounds. Donations for dog food are always accepted!
UPDATE: At almost 19 years we lost Rascal, our Jack Russell, in January 2012, and Willis, our 14 year old lab, the day before our wedding! Late November of 2014 we lost Waylon (yes, of Waylon & Wily) our mastiff mix to bone cancer. For the first time in 45 years I am "dogless," and I don't like it!
I'll always think of Waltrip as the place my name was "twin." I guess Sue and I did look a bit alike.

This is Kay, the "twin." I have reached out to Jeanne Spencer thanking her for getting this notice up. I am currently engaged in treatment for a medical issue that has severly limited my doing what I would normally, so I am so grateful to her. Please know how much Sue enjoyed hearing about you all through this site, and how much she (and I) enjoyed the reunions. What a gift to us both to have gone to Waltrip.
So I NEVER share on this site, but for you, Adrienne, Happy Birthday. We will probably be routing through Shreveport in May for a quick Taos trip before surgery for me later in the summer. We GOTTA' get together!
