Jeanne Spencer Adams is working on plans for a get together with the individuals living in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.  If you live in this area, please contact her with your emails/correct address so when she gets everything finalized, she can contact you.

Also, my many thanks to all for your prayers.  I am undergoing therapy and it seems to be working quite well.  I'm now out of the wheel chair, using a walker and am able to take steps on my own.

Arletta, please let us know how your family is doing as my prayers are for you and your daughter.

Thanks, Joanna, for posting this message.  Things just have been really busy and we finally took a few days' vacation to Houston, Lumberton, and Galveston and then abour 3 days later I went to Taos, New Mexico with Sue Aiken St.John for a week in Taos Canyon and had a blast, although we worked pretty hard closing her cabin for the winter!  I never knew retirement could be so busy!  So, we will get back to planning this get together!

I am so glad to hear you are out of the wheelchair and on the road to recovery!  smiley

Jeanne

The Lord welcomed Timothy Wayne Ware on November 9, 2016 at the age of 68.  He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Alice Ware.  He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Kathleen McDonald Ware, son Brooks Wayne Ware and wife Amy Knight Ware, son Ryan McDonald Ware and wife Crystal Peal Ware, and beloved grandchildren Jackson Wayne, Audrey Kathleen, Tyson Russell, and Andrew Ryan Ware.

Tim was born on January 26, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri.  He and his family moved to Houston, TX in 1957 where he later attended Black Junior High, Waltrip High School and graduated from Spring Branch High School in 1966.  After graduating high school, Tim was drafted by the Houston Astros but chose to attend Trinity University on a baseball scholarship, where he was a 4 year letterman and All Southland Conference performer.  While at Trinity, Tim met the love of his life Kathleen McDonald, and they married on December 21, 1968.  Upon graduation, he began coaching and teaching at Arnold Junior High in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.  When Jersey Village High School opened in 1972, Tim was named the school’s first Head Baseball Coach.  After 5 years at Jersey Village he moved on to Northbrook HS in Spring Branch ISD where he continued to  coach and teach before beginning a 35 year career in sales.  A highlight during that time was owning and operating The Paint Wagon with his wife, Kathleen.  Tim ultimately retired  in 2014 from Garner Environmental Services after nearly 10 years with the company.

Hey thanks, Tom, and a really super remaining 11 months of 2017 to you and all my WHS friends and alumni.  Tom, you've always been a bit sharper than me so I was wondering if you could help me find something I seem to have misplaced.  Every teacher I ever had said I had it and that it was mine but I never received it.  Its my PERMANENT RECORD.  Trust me, you have one too, and if I find yours I'll send it to ya.

Mine has everything I ever did wrong in it.  No teacher ever mentioned my Permanent Record when I did anything good.  Those occasions were pretty rare anyway.  But I just wanted to review my Permanent Record to possibly relive some fond memories.  I did a Google search for "Roger's Permanent Record" but nothing came up.  Is it in some library someplace?  Is it lurking in some dusty warehouse waiting patiently for me to run for some public office?  I just don't feel comfortable having all that incriminating information floating around.

My teachers all said it was "my Permanent Record" so it belongs with me...in my house...in my living room...in my fireplace.  That sucker's gotta be pretty thick.  It's winter time and I'm all out of logs.

Roger...you are way too funny. I remember being told the same thing. Guess our records are somewhere in the cloud these days.

I too had heard about my 'permanent record' but never saw it. I vaguely thought it would be around forever and ever...and would be checked by St Peter when I was at the Pearly Gates.  This got me to thinking about school days.  I don't recall ever talking with any of the school counselors about anything so I don't know what they did.  Let me know what experience you had with them.

The only counseling I recall was from Mr Parten, the biology teacher. I had done well on a science test and afterward he asked to speak with me. When alone with me, he recommended that I go into science. I replied OK and that was that, short & sweet.

Good question, Steve. Not sure what the School Counselors did either. I never spoke with any of them.

I suspect that our class was well-adjusted and didn't need any counseling. Contrast that to today's kids??

Anita Marbury (Marbury)

As a high-school teacher the records of your grades were stored in some Warehouse. I wouldn't worry about your permanent record after 50 years please don't make someone go to some warehouse and go look for it. I'm sure you were all good children.

Tom Britton

We were ALL good children? Even Walter Etie??? laugh

As a kid, I didn't know what a School Counselor did either but by the 10th grade I pretty much figured out that I wanted to be one.  I guess it's cause back then I thought getting paid to sit on my butt all day playing Paddle Ball and having everybody thinking I was a big shot was pretty cool.

If you think about it, the term "counselor" is another word for "attorney".  Maybe nowadays School Counselors are actually lawyers who serve a more useful purpose by keeping school districts out of trouble for stupid stuff like the teacher the other day that gave a lesson in how to shoot the President with a water pistol.  At least she was teaching those little know-nothing-know-it-alls something which is more than I can say for many schools these days.

So I guess it's best I chose a different line of work.  I never much liked fighting losing battles anyway and I sure wasn't any good at Paddle Ball.

My mother in law started working in the office at Waltrip and gained access to my permanent record.  She told me I was a bad boy in school.  I told her to ask the teachers for a second opinion.  She replied she had.

Steve, Ms. Keller was my assigned counselor and was a sweet lady. I remember meeting with her a time or two, but her focus seemed more on my progress towards having enough credits to graduate rather than college or career advice. Career day and getting to hear from professionals from various fields was the closest thing to real counseling we received. Attorney Richard Racehorse Haynes actually came to the law group one year and gave a very memorable presentation and some good advice. Also there is a picture of me getting counseling from Ms. Keller in either the '63 or '64 yearbooks, but the rest of the story is that I was in Mr. Tusa's outer office waiting to see him about some infraction when a photographer from the yearbook came in and asked if he could borrow me for a photo. Mr. Tusa looked at me and rolled his eyes, but agreed and told me to go with them and then come back.
